FAQ
 Frequently Asked Questions

  • What time should I arrive on Sundays?
You will want to arrive fairly early on your first Sunday at MDUMC for a couple of reasons. First, we are a fairly large church and there's a lot to see! Second, the earlier you come, the more options you have for parking! We'd advise arriving in the parking lot between 9:10 and 9:15 a.m. That will give you plenty of time to get into the building, register and make it to class.

  • Where do I need to come on Sunday morning?
On your first Sunday at MDUMC, please bring your children and come to the Office of Children's Ministries. Our staff and volunteers will be there to greet you, help you register for Sunday School, answer your questions, and escort you to one of our classrooms. If you need directions to the church, click here for a map.

  • What will my child do on Sunday mornings?
All of our classes feature interactive Bible lessons designed to share the love of God with children of all ages in a fun and stimulating learning environment. Classes for two year olds and older are taught by trained adult volunteers using a variety of curricula that includes Bible stories, crafts, games and music. While younger children generally spend the entire Sunday School hour in their classroom, children in older classes (K and up) sometimes go to "special events" such as Sing & Shout.

  • What is the Sunday morning schedule?
The main Sunday School hour is 9:30-10:30 a.m. This is by far when most children attend Sunday School. It is the only time when Third Grade Bible Academy and Christ.com are offered. We do, however, have Sunday School options at what we call our Second Hour which runs approximately 10:45-noon. The classes provided during this time period use different curriculum from the 9:30 time period and some children, mostly younger, do opt for attending both Sunday School hours. The option during the Second Hour is a "One Room Sunday School" class for all children ages 3 and up. Younger children go to B111 (the church nursery).

  • When is the church nursery open?
The church nursery is open throughout Sunday mornings, 8 a.m. - the last child is picked up around 12:10. The nursery is open at other times by request of a program staff member. If you need to have a nursery provided so that you can attend a meeting or program, please let the staff person in charge of that program know ahead of time.

  • Are children welcome in worship?
Absolutely! While we do offer the option of Children's Church, 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, this program is entirely optional and many children stay for the entirety of worship with their families. For a complete copy of the brochure "Children and Worship," click here.
