It's Cold and Flu Season!

Please use these common-sense guidelines when deciding whether to bring your child to the church nursery:

1.  A chid must be free of fever, vomiting, and diarrhea for 24 hours before entering the church nursery.  (Please use your judgment on the cause of vomiting.  If your child vomits routinely when upset, then the 24 hour rule would not apply to a crying-induced vomiting spell.)

2.  Unless your doctor has just recently diagnosed your child as not contagious, do not send children to the nursry with congestion, runny noses, etc.   If your child suffers from allergies or non-contagious conditions, please let the nursery workers know in advance.

3.  Please make sure skin rashes are diagnosed as not-contagious before bringing your child to the nursery.

4.  Please remember that anytime children gather together germs can easily spread.  We wash hands and toys often in the nursery.  We suggest, though, that you wash your child's hands and wipe down toys when picking your child up from the nursery.  A little extra-care can help keep us all healthy.

Children's Sermon

While children and families are always welcome at all of MDUMC's worship services, a special time awaits children in the 11:01 a.m. non-traditional worship service each Sunday. Children are invited forward for a special children's sermon and then have the option of returning to sit with their families for the remainder of the service or of leaving the service to attend children's activities designed especially for them.

Nursery

Children less than two years of age on September 1 of the current school year, spend the school year in the church's nursery. Children are divided by age and developmental milestones. From the tiniest of infants to the most independent of toddlers, children are accepted and loved each Sunday morning, 8 a.m. till the end of all the worship services, and quite frequently during the week as meetings and events occur. Please check the calendar section of this website for the current week's nursery calendar.

Beepers

The church nursery is equipped with a limited number of vibrating pagers which are put into use on Sunday mornings. Worried parents can rest assured that they will be reachable should their little one need them.

Please feel free to give the nursery workers your cell phone number so we can contact you while your child is in the nursery.

Sunday School

Let's learn about Jesus in Sunday School! Parent-taught and children-loved, Sunday school is a time honored tradition at MDUMC. Our main Sunday School hour is 9:30-10:30 a.m. A second hour of Sunday School using a different curriculum is available from approximately 10:45 till the end of worship. Some young children do attend both hours of Sunday School while their parents attend Sunday School at one hour and worship at the other. If your child has not yet attended a Sunday School class, please come to the Office of Children's Ministries this Sunday and we will be glad to help you find just the right class!
Safe Sanctuary

MDUMC understands that children are our most precious assets and operates under policies and procedures designed to keep children safe and well-cared for.

Loving volunteers and paid staff await the youngest members of our church family. The church nursery is open throughout Sunday mornings and oftentimes during other church functions. Children are separated according to age and developmental milestones. To discuss your child's special needs, feel free to call our Office of Children's Ministries at Ext. 136.
